To complete this assignment, you will need to interview at least one of your parents or your grandparent(s). You may interview both of your parents or grandparents and combine their answers. You do not need to cite outside sources besides sources provided for you in this module. If you are using outside sources, you will need to cite the sources using your preferred format (APA, MLA, etc.).
The paper must be at least 1000 words, double-spaced throughout, and in 12-point font. You do not need a title page but should have headings to organize your content.
Required Paper Components:
You will need to address the following components in your paper and integrate the responses with course materials from this module and textbook (chapters 5-7). Compare with what you have read in the assigned chapters with your family’s story.
I. Love and Attraction
Briefly describe how your parents or grandparents met and what attracted them to each other. Explain whether your parents’ or grandparents’ description about their attractions aligned with information from chapter 5, such as how they perceived physical attractiveness and factors that influenced their perception of sexual attractiveness such as personality.
Describe your parents’ or grandparents’ beliefs and attitudes about sexual relationships, love, marriage, and issues such as premarital sex, masturbation, casual sex, gay sex, etc. Analyze social factors that could have contributed to your parents or grandparents’ beliefs and attitudes about these issues; consider the societal contexts and time in history when your parents or grandparents grew up.
Considering your parents or grandparents relationship, which type of love based on Sternberg’s seven types of love (see chapter 7, p 205) is most reflective their past or current relationship? Explain.
II. The Individual and Society
Describe how your own views about sexual relationships are similar or different than the views of your parents or grandparents. Explain how society’s values and norms influenced your views and share experiences that were critical in shaping your beliefs and values.
