Fear, Guilt,and Revenge

Fear is being afraid of someone or something; Guilt is taking responsibility for a crime, or an
imagined crime, and then after doing something wrong being left with an awful feeling and
taking the blame; Revenge is the act of inflicting hurt or harm as payback. In each of the stories
listed below, a character is traumatized by fear, revenge, and/or guilt leading to unfortunate
consequences.
· Cask of Amontillado, Poe
· Lamb to the Slaughter, Roald Dahl
· Tell Tale Heart, Poe
· The Black Cat, Poe
· Annabel Lee, Poe
Consider how a character’s situation from one of stories, which revolved around the feeling of FEAR,
GUILT, OR REVENGE, reminds you of a similar situation of your own (or that of someone you know)
WHO was involved, WHAT was the situation, WHERE did it occur, WHEN did it happen, WHY did you
feel that way, or make someone else feel that way, and HOW did you deal with it and move past it?

I want to relate to the tell tale heart. The times that I have felt guilty doing things I should not have done. One time I took my auts purple sweatshirt my aunt always said you can have anything you want as long as you ask for it. This time I took it with all the intentions of returning it. When I came back home I put the sweatshirt back. My aunt showed up in my dreams telling me “Why did you take it” “why didnt you ask.” I felt so bad I went to her the next day to confess.
