Identify an example of a popular media text from the last three years (e.g. TV shows, film, a popular game) that you know well and analyze it critically in terms of its gender representation(s) (including intersections with race, sexualities, and class as appropriate).
What kinds of gender representations. codes and discourses are visible? Is the text ‘feminist’ in your view? Objectifying? Postfeminist? Does it reproduce hegemonic gender inequalities or bring something new?
Post 250-500 words. Be ready to share in class. Try to use an example that others in the class will also know and one in which gender is important. Post a screenshot if possible.
NOTE that gender covers masculinities, femininities, trans and non-binary genders.
