The Seneca Fall Convention was the beginning of the women’s rights movement. Started by Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Susan B. Anthony and Lucretia Mott, and supported by Frederick Douglass, this petition shattered the Congress and made them realize that women were also part of the “Republic.” But this convention was held in 1848, women had to wait far far more till 1920 when the Nineteenth Amendment was passed. Please read the Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions and see how it modeled the Declaration of independence, where the words Women, Native Americans, Immigrants, Blacks, White non-property holder Men were left out.
