The final assessment on this module is an individual portfolio, equivalent to 3,500 words (+/- 10%) and made up of two parts: a case-study analysis, and a reflective essay.
Your final mark for this module will be a single mark, reflecting your achievement in both elements (30%/70% ratio) against the relevant assessment criteria.
You are required to submit your final portfolio assessment as a single document before 11:59 (UK time) on Monday 19th July 2021 using the online submission facility on the Canvas module site. Pay attention to the instructions provided at the time of submission.
Part 1: Case-Study Analysis (30% of the final grade)
You are required to write a 1,000-word case study analysis of ‘The Leo Burnett Company Ltd.’ in Lane, H.W., Maznevski, M.L., Dietz, J. and DiStefano, J.J. (2009) International Management Behavior: Leading with a Global Mindset. New York: Cambridge University Press, 157-173. Your work should evaluate LB’s virtual team management model (its efficiency and sustainability) and propose recommendations for the virtual team leader, Janet Carmichael.
This assignment is used to assess your knowledge of the subject area and ability to critically analyse, evaluate and make sense of different situations, scenarios and case studies using relevant theories and literature.
You should draw on the Week 6 and 7 discussions of this case and explain how the ideas and perspectives of your classmates have shaped your understanding of the situation. There is no set number of discussion posts that should be referenced in your work, but it is recommended that you refer to a minimum of three discussion posts.

Part 2: Reflective Essay (70% of the final grade)
You are required to submit a 2,500-word essay reflecting on your learning about global project teams.
The purpose of this assessment is to assess your ability to estimate project parameters (including the required resources and constraints) to achieve project objectives, and to consider relevant theories and literature within the context of real-life projects.
The key question you must address in your essay is:
What did you learn about managing global projects from this module?
Your essay should include consideration of how global projects should be managed to achieve their objectives, and your reflections (or lessons) for how to function more effectively (as a team and individually) in the future as a result of your learning on this module. You may also draw on your own experiences of working as part of a global project team if applicable.
