In one paragraph (approx. 4-6 sentences), summarize the main point of the text. What argument does the author make? What evidence do they use to support that argument? (NOTE: If you don’t understand the argument well enough to summarize it, it is totally okay to say that! you won’t lose credit for admitting you struggled to understand a text!).
In a second paragraph (approx. 4-6 sentences), respond to the author’s argument. Do you agree or disagree with the points they are making? What did you find interesting about the text? What did you find confusing?
In a third paragraph (approx. 4-6 sentences), choose a quote from the text to expand on. Directly copy and cite the quote (parenthetical citations in MLA style preferred (Links to an external site.)), then add a sentence or two clarifying what the quote means. Be sure to also explain why you chose the quote and why you think it is important.
