In the first presentation, you will present an overview of the environmental management topic and resource you propose to manage for the course project. Please include all of the following content:
* Title, speaker (as you wish to be identified by your colleagues), date, venue (e.g., class details)
* Identify the topic (e.g., species reintroduction, establishment of wind energy facility, restoration of habitat, implementation of specific policy [e.g., energy tax credits, fuel standards, plastics regulation, listed species protection, chemical regulation], establishment of urban park, community garden, green infrastructure [e.g., stormwater swales, rain garden], ecotourism business, …)
* Geographic location (cover what is relevant to the selected topic)
* City, state, country; latitude/longitude; satellite map
* Historic background (what was here?)
* Soils
* Vegetation
* Wildlife
* Policy concerns (cover what is relevant to the selected topic)
* References (use APA format)
. Now is not the time to offer management objectives, actions, or strategies. This is meant as an informational session. Be scientific and objective. Leave personal bias out of the presentation. The audience needs to have a solid basis for what exactly it is that will be managed. Avoid writing in the first person. For next week’s discussion, you will need to write the script for a professional scientific audience. Consider who you would present such a presentation to, as it would likely be the opening part of a formal presentation to a diverse group of stakeholders. If there is specific technical language involved, explain it to the audience by defining terms and technology (if applicable). Note that due to the vast array of topics in class, some of the points above may not suit your topic. That is OK, but please review the grading rubric to understand how your presentation will be awarded credit.
