Write a concise essay on the following prompt:
An expository essay is meant to explain, inform, or describe. In this paper, you will investigate an idea by expanding on it and presenting the concept in an understandable manner.
All cultures have rituals that revolve around food and meal preparation. Food is an important part of the culture. Traditional cuisine is passed down from one generation to the next. It also operates as an expression of cultural identity. Most cultures reserve their best and most elaborate dishes for the most important holidays; these require complex preparation seen as a ritual. Define “food ritual” and explain the meaning of the phrase by giving a detailed description of it, and support your definition with clear examples. Once you have provided a definition for “food ritual,” describe two food rituals from different cultures and describe how the food rituals help shape the cultures.
**Note** You must come up with your own original definition for “food ritual.” You may use other definitions to help you come up with your own- but you may not copy and paste a definition from an outside source.
