Your tasks are to:
1. Choose a company (it can be small, medium-sized, large, local, national, international,
etc.). You may also choose the company that you work for.
2. Analyze the company in terms of the topics/concepts you are learning in this class.
3. Pick one topic of your choice that the company needs to improve on (e.g., managing
teams; hiring process; motivating employees; ethics and corporate social responsibility;
etc.).
4. Conduct research on how the company you chose applies this research topic/ concept
(What are they doing? Why do you feel they need improvements? Any news reports?
What drawbacks/ failures did they experience?)
o You could visit the company’s website, read published company reports, use
reliable news outlets, search for articles on Google or Google Scholar, use
relevant books and articles in the library or from online databases (e.g.,
ProQuest, EBSCO)
5. Provide at least 4 very detailed recommendations on how that company could use the
techniques/concepts you learned to better manage that research topic/concept.
6. Overall, for each phenomenon that you discuss, first describe it, and then
explain/analyze it in terms of concepts and theories from the course. Be sure to use
professional keywords and vocabulary learned in class. Do not simply state your opinion.
Everything you present needs to be backed by facts and research findings (use your
textbook as an important resource as well as external resources!).
7. Once you have completed your research, please prepare a PowerPoint presentation
using the outline below.
8. The presentation should be around 12-15 minutes in length. Please introduce each
presenter.
It is acceptable for groups to examine the same company.
Below you will find an outline of how your presentation should be structured:
1. Title slide
• Name of company, course number & section, group number, names of group
members
2. Outline of presentation/ table of contents
• Bullet points with main topics you will cover
3. Overview of Company
• Provide a very brief overview of the firm (What does it do? What industry is it
in? Locations? Since when is it in business? CEO? etc.)
4. Research topic/ Concept you choose to focus on
• Explain briefly what the research topic/ concept is about
5. Your research findings
• describe what you found through your research
i. e.g. the Coca-Cola company puts great emphasis on corporate social
responsibility according to their 2019 Business & Sustainability Report

empowerment, etc.
iii. However, Coca-Cola has also been accused of making false claims about
water recycling (
6. Recommendations
• Provide at least 4 very detailed recommendations based on concepts learned in
class
i. e.g. We (always use the term “we” instead of “I” as this is a group project)
recommend for Coca-Cola to implement a model of ethical decision
making (explain it). They should implement a proactive strategy to social
responsibility, etc.
7. References
• Properly cite EVERY reference used. Only use reputable sources. Do NOT use
Wikipedia! Remember – not giving proper credit where credit is due, is
plagiarism! Make sure to cite every source you used, any idea and work that is
not yours.
