We are going to examine how various forms of self-management, perseverance, integrity and emotional intelligence are portrayed in popular media. The purpose of this assignment is to learn how our lives are directly influenced by living in congruence with our values and our calling.
Choose one (1) of the options below for this assignment:
Option #1: Film Media
For this assignment, you will view the following films and observe the areas where the disciplines Gordon Smith and Stephen Covey presented are found.

The Pursuit Of Happyness (2006). (NOTE: Some content in the first 10 minutes of this film may be objectionable, there is a morning dressing scene between a married couple. The films is rated PG13. Viewer discretion is advised.) After viewing the film, in a two to three (2-3) page MLA formatted paper, analyze the portrayal of self-management, resiliency, integrity, and emotional intelligence by evaluating the dialogue and actions of the characters. Your paper will be evaluated based upon your ability to identify these principles as depicted in the characters. Be sure to provide specific evidence from the film that supports your analysis and illustrates how those elements are components within the areas listed above.
Option #2: Alternative Media
Research a prominent contemporary figure highlighted in recent media sources who demonstrates the characteristics of self-management, resiliency, integrity and emotional intelligence to accomplish a goal that seems insurmountable. Provide digital access to the original media source from which you draw your conclusions. Also, draw from your course materials and personal research to identify the principles as depicted by the individual you have chosen to research. Provide specific evidence that supports your analysis and illustrate how those elements are components within the areas listed above. Prepare a two to three (2-3) page MLA formatted paper to summarize your findings.
Components of your written assignment:
MLA formatting, citations, headings and page numbers throughout the paper
Introduction that tells the reader what the paper is about
Thesis statement in which you (the author) take a position and tell the reader what will be proven through the paper
Body: Use Headings that organize the paper into sections
Body of at least three well-developed paragraphs
Conclusion that succinctly summarizes the paper
Works Cited page (this page is not included in the 2-3 page requirement)
