The lunar calendar has been and remains a significant temporal marker for human beings worldwide, especially for those dependent on the moon for planting, gathering, fishing, and hunting activities. In the territory we currently inhabit, whether we are well-intentioned guests or somewhat bemused hosts, each full moon has its own name and set of associations and relationships. For this field assignment, you are asked to sit outside, either at your sitting spot or at a place of your convenience, for the rise of one of the full moons of the fall semester (September 20th, October 20th, November 19th). A one-page, single-spaced reflection about this experience is required, and is to be submitted as a stand-alone assignment separate from your other journal entries. Are you aware of where the moon is in its cycle throughout the month? Do you notice any changes in the behaviour of the people around you, or in yourself, with the passing of each moon?
