YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE A DIGITAL ACTIVISIM CAMPAIGN THROUGH A BLOG AND GIVE ME ACCESS TO IT AND WRITE A PAPER ABOUT IT.

There are many types of activism, from organizational involvement to participating in a social movement to engaging in digital activism. In this class, you will engage in an activism project focused on gender issues and reflect on your experience.

Create a digital activism campaign. As outlined on this webpage, digital activism can be carried out through a variety of tools (blogs, micro-blogs, SMS, websites, social media, social networks, video, Tiktok, etc.). Digital technology can do six things for activists: shape public opinion and create new collective identities, plan an action, protect activists (because of anonymity), share a call to action, take action digitally (e.g. creating or signing an e-petition), and transfer resources (including raising money). For this option, you will create a gender-related digital activism campaign of your own choosing.
Writing it Up:
After you have engaged in activism, then write a paper describing your project and how it relates to the course materials. You will not be graded on the project you select. You will be graded on your essay and the extent to which you can link it to the issues we have discussed in class.

As you can see from the attached rubric, you will need to exhibit a demonstrated understanding of gender inequality concepts and terms as used in the course material. This means that in addition to summarizing what you did, you also need to link it to the course material. Make sure you are as specific as possible, referencing and quoting relevant course material. That is, you will analyze your actions and experiences in light of our course readings and lectures to highlight how it connects to course concepts. The focus of your paper should be your interpretations and analysis of how what you did relates to our course material. That is, in the course of writing up your interpretations, try to do more than simply describing it—explain it, analyze it, make sense of it analytically. It is important that you provide specific references to the course material for the points you want to make. In other words, back up your interpretations and assertions.
Paper Format: (please label as Part A and Part B)
Title Page: Include your name and an engaging title. (This does not count in your 3 pages) Please include a selfie of yourself engaging in the activity on the title page.
Part A: Describe the Activity (approximately 1 page, double spaced)
• What did you DO and why is it important? You can include why you chose the activity. You may use the first person (“I”) in your paper.
Part B: Explain how the Activity Addresses Gender Inequality (approximately 1 page, double spaced)
• Drawing explicitly on the course material, analyze the problem that you addressed in light of the course materials (lectures, readings, etc.).
• Be as specific as possible. Make direct links to the course materials, citing those that are relevant.
• Conclude your paper with a statement of how you could expand or continue your activity in the future.
