Gender Issues Research Paper Guidelines
This research paper is an opportunity for each student to delve deeper into one particular topic covered in this course and explore questions in more depth. This research paper based on existing literature should be no less than 2000 words in length (not including the references) with a minimum of 5-7 academic sources (you can go up to 10-12) that guides and informs the paper. The paper project will in the end, have three component parts: 1) A short proposal outlining the topic and one or two questions or concepts you hope to explore (about 400-500 words). 2) An annotated bibliography of the sources you will be using in the paper. 3) The final research paper. Due dates for all these are provided on the Due Date Schedule on BB.
Paper proposal must include a clear research question and a research plan. You will not receive credit for your final paper until your proposal has been approved (400-500 words). Be sure to address the following elements in your proposal:
What is the topic you will address?
Explain the sociological issue you on which you will focus in your Gendered Issues Paper.
What is your research question?
Your research question must be clearly defined and answerable with a review of the sociological literature about your topic.
What resources are specifically required for you to address your research question?
Explain the sociological relevance of your research topic and how it relates to this class.
What is your research plan? Explain how you plan to address your research question
