This essay should be in the classic style with an introduction paragraph, ~3 body paragraphs each making a single point and a conclusion paragraph. It should outline an argument based on what we have learned so far in class, generalizing it to this new topic.
You are not expected to do additional research. Instead, it is expected that you include reasonable evidence in hypothetical (e.g., “If it is the case that parents who have higher education status are likely to have children who also have higher educational status, then..”) or examples from the class (e.g., “In class we learned that in cultures where parents prioritize motor development more infants are likely to show faster motor development”). However, you are welcome to include outside sources if you think it is essential to your argument. If you include outside resources you must cite them in APA style within this 2 page limit (i.e., include citations in line and also a reference section at the end).
Question:
Pick one of the domains that we studied: sensorimotor, language, conceptual, social/moral. Imagine that you know an infant who has missed a major milestone in one of these domains (e.g., not walking at 12 months, not saying their early words around 12-15 months). Based on what you have learned in this course, what does that mean for their development? What are the reasons that you should and should not be concerned about this?
