Therefore, you, our hypothetical sport manager, have been tasked to learn from the decisions…and mistakes that other sports teams have made when their team names have been identified as being racially insensitive.
You will need to research two other teams’/organizations’/schools’ attempts to demonstrate greater cultural sensitivity by changing their team names from their traditional American Indian-related names.
1. Identify two articles – one for each team/organization/school. Post your links, as well as the full citation to an article for each one of these two teams/organizations,
2. Summarize each article in 2-3 sentences, and
3. Include one “lesson” your own hypothetical team could learn from a decision or mistake each of these other teams made in the postings that you make. Your lesson will need to consist of at least 2-3 sentences.
Keep in mind that this should be a 2-3 sentence summary of the article and then another 2-3 sentence summary statement of the “lesson learned” from the article.
