All groups must critique a show aired this semester. The show must not be an open line
show. (This means the show must deal with a specific topic.) Record the show, if necessary, to
allow for an in-depth analysis. Write a paper (in double space) of 800-1,000 words critiquing
the show and making sure to include the following information.
i. Provide the date, time and media organisation of the original airing of the show.
ii. Provide the names of the host(s) and guest(s) along with the guests’ credentials in
terms of the topic. Was the guest an expert on the topic?
iii. Discuss the programme’s content including the views of the host(s), guest(s), and the
audience.
iv. Was the topic current? Did the host(s) do a good job of ensuring that the topic was
fully covered, that the guest(s) answered all questions and/or addressed all aspects, and
that the audience remained focused?
v. What was the feedback (via calls and/or comments) from the audience?
vi. Were all your questions concerning the topic answered? If not, what are the questions
still to be answered?
vii. Would you have changed anything about the show?
viii. What was the group’s general view of the show?
