Have you ever met someone who was prejudiced against his or her own group?

Have you ever met someone who was prejudiced against his or her own group? For example, this could be a woman who doesn’t like women, an individual prejudiced against his/her own race, a homosexual who was homophobic, etc. If yes, describe this person and why you think he/she held these beliefs. If not, have you ever had this type of feeling yourself — where you disliked something about people in your own group?
Earlier this week we discussed White Privilege. Can you think of any disadvantages there are to being White in the U.S.? Discuss both advantages and disadvantages you can think of for your group status (i.e., being in either the majority group or a minority group) and how they have affected your life, personally. Do the advantages or disadvantages seem to affect you more — which are more powerful in your life?
