Health Care Technology in the Future

First, let’s start with question #1. Share your opinion (to be posted beginning Sunday and no later than Wednesday):
1. Find and share at least one upcoming or recent health care technological advance (do not use electronic medical records). It can be a technology intended for use in a health care organization or something a patient may use in his or her day-to-day life. How does it work? What does it do? What are the implications for a manager regarding cost / training / regulations / outcomes and so forth?

2. In module 5 we discussed cost vs benefit. Making health care affordable for all Americans has been quite high on the political agenda. How does the rapid advance in health technologies promote or hinder this agenda for the future? Where does technology fall in the cost vs benefit spectrum, and why?
3. Do you see a “slippery slope” to embracing certain health care technologies? How so? Should we place restrictions on the use of technology under any circumstances? Please explain, from the perspective of a Health Care Administrator, how would you evaluate the need for implementation of new technology? OR From the perspective of a Health Care Administrator, explain how would you evaluate the need for implementation of new technology?
