This short paper (450 -600 words/1.5 pages) will reflect your personal reaction/analysis with selected aspects of a text: for example, its position in development of American modernism, author’s literary innovation, what it reveals about a segment of American life, how it expands/confirms stereotypes, etc. The text needs to be an assigned reading from Week 3.
Response paper will have good organization (4-5 paragraphs: thesis, unified body paragraphs, conclusion), supported by 3 quotes. Essay format of double-spaced and Times New Roman 12 expected. Please use correct MLA i title format and in-text citation with good Integration of sources. No outside sources. Title page and Works Cited not wanted.
Thesis sentence must be your direct argument; no Announcements (“In this paper, I will” > not allowed).
Effective paragraphs are 125-175 words >penalty for paragraphs over 200 words or under 100.
