1) Please tell us about your child’s personality and character traits
Academically, our son is in the 8th grade at a public school and is recognized as a gifted talent in his school. Math & coding are some of his favorite subjects. Our son has had an interest in entrepreneurship since a very young age, and he is motivated to gain admission to a prestigious university. He maintained his predicted outcomes in all his prior studies. Our son’s most significant distinguishing characteristic is that he never does anything half-heartedly. From the time he was a little boy, he had an unwavering determination to complete any task, whether a problematic LEGO set or a math problem. He would teach himself online and not stop until the task was completed. Our son is devoted to being there for his friends and family. He puts his all into each project school and extracurricular activities, and he does it with a smile on his face. He is determined to see the project through to completion and will not give up until he gets the desired outcome. Outside of school, our son is very involved in sports, particularly basketball and swimming. Our son has always loved developing ties with his instructors; therefore, we look for a school with approachable teachers. Our son values a school where he and his friends are encouraged to take charge of their initiatives. The highly trained & respected staff at Harker will fuel our son’s passion and commitment to achieving his absolute best.

2) What aspect of our mission statement leads you to seek admission for your child?
The aspect of “personal integrity and making the world a better place,” are great thoughts we as parents would like to instill in our son Ethan. With the help of Harker, this message will be strongly engrained in his memory. Being moral, honest, hardworking & skilled with a sincere goal to help people around us is what we as parents want our children to think and follow. Integrity will make him a better person overall, improving his potential, confidence and reputation as a Leader. Achieving the same goals through dishonest or shortcuts means is not something we wish for our children. More importantly, as a leader, he will be able to rightly influence and inspire millions of people globally, that would automatically help make this world a better place. We believe Harker will provide Ethan the academic & practical experiences to help him develop his knowledge and skills to solve real life of the society.
3) At Harker we value our four tenets: respect, integrity, personal accountability and kindness. These tenets are emphasized at every grade level at Harker. How do you foster these tenets in your family?

Our family is a very closely knit family. We parents have been raised in an environment where the principles of Integrity, Kindness, Respect and Accountability matters most. So naturally we have been imparting these values to our children early on to shape what them as good human beings. Whenver we go for small hils or walks, we encourage our children to pick any trash and throw it in the bin which teaches them the importance of taking care of the environment. We make sure we sit down together and Thank God everyday before dinner . Also I make sure I carry a few dollar bills and give it to the kids to give to the poor at road crossings. The important thing is that your children learn to respect all of humanity. Even at home kids have been thought to clean up their room, help with home chores like unloading dishwashers , arrnaging their books in the shleves, organizing their shoes in the rack. Sorting and Organizing are particularly important actions in life, but often overlooked and as parents we make sure our kids understands how over time it is a big time saver. Honesty and integrity is what we value the most in our house. Our kids talk the truth no matter what even if they know they did something wrong.

4) At Harker we strongly believe in the importance of our students valuing and embracing diversity, and building inclusivity in order to take their place in the world as global citizens. What do you feel are the benefits of diversity in a school community?
Building a culture of Diversity and Inclusion is very crucial in new generation. Every background brings different perspective, experience and uniqueness to the table. This not only widens the horizon of an individual but also creates empathy. This way they understand the situation and others better. Having this exposure in early days especially in schools years build their tolerance and ability to accept different backgrounds without any discrimination. Diversity is important to make students well rounded adult as part of this community and world.

5. What additional non-academic related information would you like to share with the Harker Admission Committee to help us better know your child?*

Ethan has been a great son, student and older brother. He is a gifted child. He strives for perfection in whatever he takes up and takes additional effort to be a better version of himself. He enjoys sports and is always keen to play any sport. He has fun playing with his younger brother, teaching him and also learning from him. He started enjoying building Legos at age 4. He has the patience and interest to sit for hours to finish building it. He also enjoys assembling home furnitures and repairing small things. He is a God fearing child who loves peace and inspires to do something for the community. He enjoys family time and looks forward going to Church every Sunday. He deeply feels that no one in this world should sleep hungry and wants to work on this cause as he grows up.
