Carefully read the “Historians’ Voices” section at the end of Chapter 20. Both Griech-Polelle and Browning attempt to address the question of why average Germans either tacitly accepted or actively participated in the Nazi extermination of Jews. What is the central difference between the two authors’ arguments? Where do you find similarities or overlap between the two pieces? Be sure to refer to each author by name and use direct evidence from each text. Use specific evidence from the readings to support your argument.
