Historical Literature Review Essay

You are to write an 800-1000 words essay (single-spaced) based on the Historical Literature reading 9 only provided below. Please check the essay rubric, checklist, model essay for guidance.
Do not overload your paper with quotes. You do not need to place your name, course title, date, or title of your essay at the top of the page; the Turnitin.com site does this for you. Being that we are using a common text, citation for direct quotes and paraphrasing is unnecessary. Do not plagiarize (present someone else’s ideas as your own).

Instruction:
You must write a traditional composition: introduction, body, and conclusion.
Introductory paragraph: in your first paragraph, you must identify the author(s) and title of the essay that you are discussing (see the first paragraph of the model paper for an example). Following that you will briefly summarize the thesis (a position or proposition that a person advances and offers to maintain by argument) offered by the author. You may also use the introductory paragraph to briefly describe the period that the author is covering.
The body of your composition will examine the main points discussed in the essay that support the thesis.
When composing your essay keep in mind that the task is to analyze the content of the essay (offer detailed examination of the key points and historical arguments/conclusions drawn up by the author). In doing so:
1) Identify the thesis of the essay
2) Do not simply summarize the material.
3) Your task is to explain why the thesis/argument of the piece is important.
4) Also, situate the events or themes covered in the essay within the context of the period being discussed.
5) And explain the greater implications of the specific event or theme.
Complete your essay with a proper conclusion: a complete paragraph that reinforces the points made in the body of the paper as they relate to the broader thesis offered by the historian. (Be sure to read through the model essay provided below for guidance on format and content. Your essay should look and function similar to the model.)
