history of the Non- Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons

I write to you today to ask that you submit a manuscript to the journal International Security for
consideration for our next issue, which will feature a set of essays on the history of the Non-
Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) Review Conferences (RevCon). Because of your
scholarly training, you are exceedingly well-positioned to write the definitive analysis comparing
the 2010 and 2015 RevCons. We would like you to focus on why cooperation succeeded in 2010
with the adoption of the Final Document, but not in 2015. You should follow the style of our
journal, utilizing theory (from the PS114S course) and providing evidence to support your
arguments, supplying footnotes when appropriate, and most importantly, presenting a central
argument that is clear and compelling. You should focus on the international context, points of
contention and resolution, as well as outcomes at the RevCons. Be sure to conclude with some
recommendations for success at future Review Conferences.
