Research can be defined as the systematic investigation of a solution for a problem. Evidence-based practice can be defined as the formulation of research evidence to support Nursing practice. Quality improvement can be defined as improving the quality of content by analysis and evaluation. The difference between these three concepts is that research is used to find a solution to Nursing problems, EBP is used to provide evidence to support the nursing care provided. At the same time, quality improvement is the measure taken to improve the quality of nursing practice.
As the EBP, Research, and QI committee gets started, one of the committee’s first tasks is to create guidelines to help you decide whether an issue requires an EBP, nursing research, or QI approach.
