Three times over the semester you will write papers in response to course material. The response papers are 1,000 to 1,250 words (upper limit strictly enforced), which is about 4-5 pages double spaced, with Times New Roman 12-point font. Late papers will be penalized with a 5% point reduction for every 24 hours they are not submitted. They are evenly divided between two parts. More details will be provided in the assignment handout.
Part 1 asks you to demonstrate, without summarizing, that you’ve read and understood the course material.
What are the big questions raised and answered in this section? I suggest you identify 2-3. What key issues are addressed?
How do the readings go about answer these questions? What styles, methods, arguments, evidence are employed?
How does the material work together? Make connections among readings, lecture, videos, etc. On what points is there agreement? Where is there conflict and disagreement?
Part 2 asks you to analyze your experiences and thinking in light of this section’s material.
