Your assignment is to research correctional programs that have been shown to reduce recidivism and reduce crime. What correctional programs might have the greatest impact on crime and reduce recidivism? The bottom line is what would work to reduce crime and recidivism.
What programs associated with corrections (i.e. prisons, jails, probation, parole, and pre-trial services) have been shown to reduce recidivism and crime? You must list and discuss 5 policies and/or programs. You must describe the program in sufficient detail, so the reader knows how the program works. You must also list and describe the correctional theory that supports each program (covered in Topic 2).
You must find specific programs. For example, you cannot generally use rehabilitation programs or prevention programs. Rather, you must research and find specific rehabilitation programs and prevention programs and describe these programs and/or policies. Of course, and very importantly, you must provide evidence the program reduces recidivism and reduces crime. You must choose the programs carefully.
