This project will require each of you to pursue an area of particular interest within Abnormal Psychology, to a degree not allowed in the general, assigned readings. You will seek out relevant, scientific peer-reviewed research on a particular disorder or mental impairment with a focused population, and discuss the current treatments and emerging findings in research. You will also include a reflection section (at least 1 page) where you will discuss your own feelings, biases, and beliefs about this disorder, and what you learned while engaging in this project. The project will culminate in a typed report in the range of 8-10, double-spaced pages, excluding references.
Part 2: Final Paper (Due on Blackboard (12/5/21):
You will include critiques and recommendations in addition to your literature review.
Literature Review & Treatment options: Using your academic articles, conduct a literature review and summarize the research on your topic. The title of the article will be cited with two paragraphs. One paragraph will summarize the article and the second will point out any critiques of the article. Also summarize the relevant treatment options and how effective they may be. What other treatment options would be helpful?
Future Research Recommendations: Additionally, there will be recommendations from your perspective of the overall research conducted. For example, should the research be conducted on another population of people? Should this be studied across cultures, different genders or varying ages? Was there anything missing in the research that could be added? What factors were not evident that could have been? How you would go about further research based on the recommendations discussed in the paper.
Personal Reflection: You will also include a reflection section (at least 1 page) where you will discuss your own feelings, biases, and beliefs about this disorder, and what you learned while engaging in this project.
