How did you demonstrate you were listening?

You will need to find a student who is in school. This can be any age from preschool through high school or College student or adult education. You will sit with them for 5-10 minutes to hear how their current educational experience is going.
Write a 1-2 page summary of your interview of your student. (Your student can be any age and from any
formal or informal education setting)
1. Describe the setting.
Make sure the setting is conducive to listening:
Limit distractions
Start with a clean canvas
2. Start with this question “How would
you describe your school year (educational experience) so far this year?”
Summarize what you heard and what probing open-ended and clarifying questions you used to illicit
more information from the student.
Avoid interrupting or asking disruptive questions.
