This assignment should build on the work that you did in your Notetaking Templates and the Literature Map. A literature review is an essay paper that provides a comprehensive review of literature related to your research question. Your audience for this essay is someone who is unfamiliar with your topic and the material you have read. So you need to write in an explanatory way so that someone who hasn’t read the articles you are citing could understand what you are saying.
Assignment Content
A template has been included for you to use. You should follow the guidelines in the template, which include the following:
An Introduction that explains what your topic is, why you are interested in this topic or why it is an important topic, and the research question that is guiding your review.
A review of the literature you have read. You should have a minimum of two subheadings (based off of your literature map — see attachment), but no more than three. Your review should summarize the finding in the articles, how or from where data was gathered, and a synthesis showing how articles relate to each other (see Notetaking templates– attachment under “racial profiling template”)
A bibliography that includes at least five citations (four of them peer-reviewed)
There is no specific page requirement for this essay, though successful essays are generally around 3-5 pages in length. I have included an example from a former student who did well on this assignment to give you an idea of what is expected. Note that I did not include the bibliography page for this example, but yours should have one.
