Intelligence is the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills. Intelligence is defined in several ways, some of the most common ones are through: tests, speeches, and assignments. Since we were kids are intelligence has been defined through school work the way we comprehend information, the way we use information, etc. The way we processed shapes, numbers, and colors defined our intelligence as kindergarteners and determine if we were intelligent enough to move on to more complex things. There are many other ways our intelligence was defined in school but that was one of the top examples I can remember in elementary school. An example of intelligence is someone receiving their master’s degree, someone who passes their tests with an awesome grade, or someone graduating from medical school. When medical students take the MCAT is a test with several different subjects on it, shows that some medical students are intelligent in people skills and others are more intelligent in Biology. Our intelligence grows as we grow, as we take more classes and as life goes on, I think that our intelligence goes up as we grow up. I think that we never stop learning and our intelligence grows daily. Again, with medical students, medicine is changing daily so their intelligence changes and grows almost weekly. They may have thought they were super-intelligent about smoking cessation but just about two weeks ago Chantix was recalled. Now they probably don’t feel as intelligent in that subject anymore, now they have to relearn the way they manage it. Intelligence is important but we never stop learning.

I define intelligence as someone who can explain things well and understand them. I also think to be intelligent you need to be able to make good decisions. To make good decisions you need to have common sense and you need to look at all of your options. At my school, some teachers can explain things in a way to make almost every student understand what they are saying, and then there are some teachers that when they explain all you understand is that they are talking to you and then they get mad that you aren’t passing. Sometimes when I think something is a good decision and I do it it turns out bad, this happens because I wasn’t intelligent enough to be able to look at all of the outcomes that could happen if I made that decision. In my health class, we are talking about making good decisions, we talk about different strategies that you can use to make those good decisions. Common sense is also a big part of being intelligent because if you don’t have common sense you can’t really know how to do things like making an educated guess by using the process of elimination.
