How do you handle the situation at the hospital? Who would you speak with and how would you document this occurrence?

You respond to the Orlando Regional Hospital to process a live victim. Before you enter the room, the officer on scene tells you that the victim is a 12 year old girl who has been raped and beaten by her uncle. The officer also tells you that all the evidence at the scene supports the statement given by the victim. Since you accurately remember how to deal with victims (through your excellent studying in this class), the victim begins to feel comfortable with you. The nurse has to go to another room to grab more items. The victim then begins to tell you her story. You ask for the officer to come into the room with you so that this officer may witness and document what the victim is saying. Right then the victim blurts out that she is not going to tell the officer the truth that it was her father that actually raped and beat her. How do you handle the situation at the hospital? Who would you speak with and how would you document this occurrence? Remember, the victim refuses to speak with anyone but you at this point.

Three months later, you are subpoenaed by the defense. You notice that the uncle is the defendant in the case. When you question your supervisor as to what you should do because you documented what was said to you by the victim, your supervisor tells you that prosecution believed the victim lied to you in the hospital. At this point, how do you feel? What do you do, if anything?
