How has Technology Impacts China’s Rural-Urban Education Gap in Different Perspectives.Purpose: The purpose of the final paper is to provide an opportunity for the student to explore their own interests in the area of IT in the International Context, gain exposure to real-world problems, and to integrate what they’ve learned in the course. As such, paper topics should aim to drill down into a topic that could fall into one of the course units (infrastructure, sectors, and social issues). Also, your paper should draw on at least 2 readings from the class and cite them in the text.
Length: The final paper should be ~10 pages (double spaced) of writing. The 10 pages does not include the references. Also, images and figures should be subtracted from the length. For instance, if two figures take up a half page each, totaling a page, the paper should be 11 pages.
In-text citations and references: You should use in-text citations or footnotes as a means of providing support for your arguments. Footnotes can be convenient when using web resources and reports where it is difficult to discern the author. (See the GSMA report for extensive use of footnotes). However, where the author is clear, an in-text citation is preferable. If you use in-text citations, a references list should be included at the end. Citation and reference format is up to you (APA, MLA, ACM, etc.). If all of your in-text references are footnoted this will suffice. Students may want to use free software such as Mendeley to gather and cite references. The paper should include at least 10 references/footnotes, two of which should be readings from the class.
Final Paper: As note above, the final paper should be 10 pages double spaced. It should reflect progression from the draft and should demonstrate attention paid to peer reviews. For instance, if a peer review suggests a specific issue that is unaddressed in the paper, the final paper should either address the topic or add a sentence explaining why the issue is beyond the scope of the topic.
