1. Defining and making clear use of Michel Foucault’s idea of normalization, as discussed in Jean Halley’s 2012 book, please describe and explain the sexual violence experienced by people in each of the Transforming a Rape Cultureessays; and by queer people in Leslie Feinberg’s novel. In your essay answer, address any similarities and differences between the violence in the Transforming a Rape Cultureessays and Feinberg.
2. Please compare and contrast ways of thinking about nonhuman animals, women and immigrant workers in the readings by:
a. Jean Halley;
b. Upton Sinclair; and
c. Eric Schlosser on Blackboard.
How have ways of living birthed ways of thinking in these texts? What role did industrialization play?
