Remember that your Argument Essay will reflect your own research (not the research of anyone else in your group).
This will be the culmination of all of your research. Remember that you MUST advocate for change and create solutions for the issue at hand. Here’s how it will be graded:
Content (20 PTS.)
– Have you chosen a subject that is not too broad, yet not too narrow, focused on students?
– Have you integrated your primary research used to learn more about your topic?
– Have you provided enough evidence to flesh out each main point that you want to make?
– Do the five or more body paragraphs support the thesis, yet offer different pieces of evidence?
– Do you have a minimum of 6 outside sources (at least 2 of which are journal sources)?
– Have you included your own primary research?
– Is the paper a minimum of 5 full pages of text + 1 Works Cited Page, but not more than 10 pages of text + 1 Works Cited page?
Writing in the conventions of an academic audience (20 PTS.)
– Have you eliminated unnecessary words? Is it concise and easy to read?
– Have you used proper MLA style? Is the Works Cited page titled Works Cited?
– Is the Works Cited page alphabetical by last name of author or first major word of title?
– Are you using a level of language appropriate to those in the academic community?
– Have you avoided spelling, punctuation and grammar errors throughout?
Source Integration and Supporting Evidence (10 PTS.)
This is how effectively you used the source materials listed in your Works Cited page within your paper. I’m specifically looking for:
How you integrated parenthetical (in-text) citations into your essay
Whether quotes, paraphrases or summaries were well chosen
