Here is the feedback from my research proposal: ‘The title is good as it is evocative and creates an interest – but perhaps it would benefit from a subtitle that incorporates social media to some extent, as that seems to be central to your argument. The context/rationale presents some valid points, but you need to provide support to the statements you are making – and you are simplifying matters slightly, albeit your hypothesis is largely relevant.
The RQs are straightforward and work rather well – the aim is slightly over complicated, perhaps you could find a balance between the two to formulate your RQ and aim? The objectives are rather good.
For your literature review, you need to find more specific literature that discusses social media in travel, changes in consumer travel behaviour, etc, but the books you have listed could be useful as a starting point. As a suggestion, you could centre your literature review on some themes that relate to your objectives.
For the topic at hand, I would suggest that you explore qualitative research methods as well – especially as you will be discussing issues that are not easily defined through statistics or numbers. It is not clear if you are going to collect any primary data, but you should be fine with secondary sources. You might want to consider what types of sources you will consult for your findings chapter – will it be social media platforms, and review pages, or similar? Any form of source is valid as long as there is a reason for using it.
All in all, this is a promising proposal, but you need to develop/specify your topic – as far as I can see the ingredients are there already, you just need to specify what the aim should be, and you also need to consider what research materials to use for the findings chapter. The next step now is to discuss the best way forward with your supervisor – and for you to continue developing your literature review.’
