Watch the CONNECT video (ABOVE) for information about a home visit. Submit the following:
What did you learn about communicating with families?
How will you apply it if you were to conduct a visit at the home of your focus child?
How would you gather background information about the child ? How could you find out about what they would like to know more about child development?
Use appropriate strategies to communicate with the parent/s. Submit the following:
What strategies would you use to communicate with the parent/s?
How do you feel about your ability to conduct the home visit?
How about conducting a workshop on their identified topic?
How would you go about researching the topic?
Review in the Assessment folder the Family Workshop.
I will send an email with instructions on completing and video recording your workshop. The first thing you need to do is identify a family that you know who has a child – prenatal to age 8. This family must be willing to have you present AND record a 15 minute workshop on a topic of their choice. You may have to help them identify a topic, but make sure the topic is one that is of their need / s. Good luck!
