Human Resource Management in Global Enterprises – Come up with a title based on the assignment

For the assignment, you will consider the following case study;

You work in the HR department of a multinational company in one of the following industries:

• banking and finance
• electronics and technology
• textile and fashion
• food and beverages
• medicine and pharmaceuticals

(NB: You are welcome to take an existing company, or create a fictional one)
Your company is looking to set up a subsidiary abroad and your department is currently
working on the HR strategy.

You should select two countries (you are free to choose):
1. The parent country where multinational company is based
2. The host country where the subsidiary will be set up.

For this expansion you have been asked by the Head of HR to propose detailed guidance
for the company on two of the following topics:
1. HRM and the Future of the International Business Environment
2. Organisational Culture in International Businesses
3. International Staffing Policies
4. Recruiting and Selecting Staff
5. Preparation for Expatriate Assignments
6. Employee Compensation and Benefits
7. Training and Development

You should base your guidance on a solid literature research concerning the selected industry, countries
and issue. Your guidance should take the form of an academic paper of 8-10 pages.

Your guidance should cover:
• A summary of the company, covering its area of activity, size, employee structure and market
share.
• An outline of the proposed subsidiary and the international expansion
• Specific details relating to the parent and host country job markets
• For each of the topics selected:
o key overall issues related the topic
o latest academic research
o details challenges related to proposed company expansion
o proposed guidance

The following areas will be assessed:

• Consistent use of research and literature to develop the strategy
• Ability to draw together content from a wide variety of different sources and not rely too strongly
on a few sources.
• Use of academic literature (journal articles)
• Consideration of the specific aspects of the selected countries and industry
• Use of standards of academic writing.
