Journal Assignment – Addressing Challenges
Develop a PowerPoint presentation for the CEO of an international non-profit or for-profit company that explains any security concept from the entire course and how it impacts their company. For example, you could choose an organization, such as Catholic Charities or General Electric, and then think about a security concept that they might need to know about, such as private security contractors or issues surrounding migration. Feel free to be creative with your idea.
The presentation should include an introduction and an overview of the concept as well as 3 ways for the company to respond. Leaders like to have three choices. Usually it’s a “high, medium, low” options, or “best approach, worst case approach, or wait and see” choices.
You could organize your slides as follows (but you do not have to):
Slide 1: Title of presentation
Slide 2: Introduction
Slide 3-4: Overview of a security studies concept and why it is important
Slide 5: Options for the company to consider
Slide 6: Option 1
Slide 7: Option 2
Slide 8: Option 3
Slide 9: Summary
Slide 10: Conclusion
If recorded: The presentation cannot be longer than 5 minutes long and must provide links to sources and citations at the end.
If written: The PowerPoint presentation cannot be longer than 10 slides and must provide a talking script in the notes section of each slide. The total word count for the talking script should be about 750 words and include links to sources and citations.
This assignment will require you to use PowerPoint to create your presentation. Access to PowerPoint is included within the Office 365 package available to all students. Please follow these instructions on accessing Office 365 if you need the program. If you have never used PowerPoint before, here is a good YouTube video on getting started.
