Hypothesis Statement

Below is the instruction for this portion of the project. I have attached the form that needs to be filled out. I also uploaded full instruction for the entire project. I have completed everything besides the hypothesis statement. If project objective needs to be revised please do so.

Since this is an online class, with no face-to-face lab on campus, you are limited by the professor to a research project that consists of a one or two sample hypothesis test comparing means. You are limited by the professor to research on length-of-stay (LOS) data in regard to a multitude of settings (payer, diagnosis, gender, age, race, urban vs. rural, etc.).

In a one-sample project, you might compare Oklahoma’s LOS with the national LOS. In a two-sample project, you might compare male LOS with female LOS. Examples of the statistical tests you will be doing can be found in Chapters 17 and 18 of the textbook.

This must include a comparison (hypothesis test) of the Length of Stay (LOS) variable with a known average LOS (ALOS) or between two LOS. The multitude of settings is in regard to the variable of influence on LOS. For example, comparing the ALOS for rural hospitals to urban hospital, comparing the ALOS for head trauma patients in Oklahoma to the national average, or comparing the ALOS between older patients after surgery to younger patients. The multitude of settings are rural vs. urban, state vs. national, older vs. younger, or male vs. female. However, each setting looks at the LOS variable for comparison.

b. You will need to complete the Health Research Project document; providing a team name, listing all team members, your team’s agreed upon topic, type of data, and data set location (if known). Your professor will need to approve your team’s document before you move forward. Complete the Health Research Project document and submit in the Canvas Dropbox by the due date posted on the schedule.
