Make sure you listen to the podcasts, read the scripts and look over the relevant sections of your textbook. Using the text box, your job is to write a 500-word essay on the following theme:
Let’s call this essay “Ideas And Empires.” Identify three ideas discussed in Section 4, including the basic beliefs and individuals associated with each idea. Explain how each idea impacted one of the major empires discussed in Section 5. Be sure to include lots of specifics and be thorough in your analysis.
See the grading rubric below for how your submission will be graded. The ideal submission will contain a clearly written analysis in the student’s own words without large passages included from the book or script. You must submit your entry in the text box, not as a document in Word or some other program.
Because writing is a skill and takes practice to master, you may submit your essay three times before it closes. I will grade essays up until 24 hours before the final version is due. If you have not turned in your first version by then, whatever you turn in will be your final version. I will offer feedback and you may make changes based on that feedback. The grade on the last submission will be the one that counts for the assignment. Make sure you look at the feedback I provide. Keep in mind that 24 hours before the essay closes, I will shut that off so if you’re having trouble with your essay, get started early and submit it well before the due date.
