Purpose of the Assignment: The purpose of this exam is to consolidate and apply all the knowledge you have gained throughout in the semester, as well as to learn through the process of practice and writing, and in particular, to practice diagnosis and assessment. This exam demonstrates your competence in assessing individuals.
Tasks:

Your paper should include the following:
● Biopsychosocial Assessment: Individually, you will write a biopsychosocial assessment, including an MSE of the person represented in the clinical case based on the information you gathered from the video.
Please follow the outline for the biopsychosocial assessment that is in the course syllabus. Use subheadings to help clarify your organization of the material. Some areas are more narrative, some may be more phrases.
o Differential Diagnosis: Identify a diagnosis and give clear support for your choice (i.e., symptoms and diagnoses you ruled out).
o Clinical Case Formulation: As part of the biopsychosocial assessment, you will write a theoretically oriented clinical case formulation. Support your formulation with data from the case, as well as relevant class notes and readings. Remember that a formulation is the “why” of an assessment, integrating observations and theory. Please use the formulation outline that is in the course syllabus. Do not use subheadings in the formulation. It should read as a cohesive two to four paragraphs.
Specifications for the final assignment:
● Your paper should be between three and six double-spaced typed pages. Exams will be graded on a rubric provided by your professor. Scoring will consider comprehensive coverage of all of the categories in the biopsychosocial assessment, strong use of theory in the formulation, and justification of diagnosis based on data from the case.
● You will not be thrown a curve ball—the diagnosis of the patient will be one already covered in class
