Identify a specific problem related to the global challenge you chose. If you chose global warming as your challenge and California as the region for your last assignment, you now need to address a particular issue within that region. For example, you can identify the prevalence of wildfires in California as the problem, or you can also identify the water shortage as the problem.
Using the Ecological Model to identify contributors to the problem (individual layer, social, environmental layer, physical environment layer, policy layer). For each layer, research and discuss at least one factor contributing to the problem. As mentioned above, if you identify the wildfire as the problem to tackle, you need to do some research on what factors that contributed to the wildfire belong to individual layer, social environment layer, physical environment layer, and policy layer respectively (e.g., smoking campers might be a contributor that belongs to individual layer).
This assignment requires you to conduct scientific research on your topic. In other words, you need to use an online database (googlescholar.com or the school library website) to conduct a keyword search. You need scientific data to support your claims regarding the problem you identify. For example, if you claim that the drought in California is worsening in this past decade, you need to provide either data or citations to back it up. My specific global challenge: Global Challenge: Food Security and Health

Rationale: I decided to choose food security and health as my topic because I grew up in Chicago and I witnessed how so many friends and family members didn’t have consistent access to quality foods. As a result, I watched their body/overall health progressively get worse. This situation made me realize that all individuals should have resources to supply them with proper and healthful foods.
