Each group will be expected to prepare a health care policy proposal paper in form of a 3 – 5 paged policy brief. This paper should identify a health care problem, discuss its implications and propose actionable recommendations to address this problem based on an assessment of the potential impact of the policy. Each proposal should analyze at least 2 policy interventions options based on any two policy analysis criteria. Examples of Policy Briefs are provided in Module VII.
Each paper should have the following sections:
Introduction and background
Define the problem or issue: What is the problem? Highlight implications or state significant findings on the issue based on available data. Explain why this is an issue/ why it is important etc.
2. Analysis of Policy Recommendation Alternatives
Identify and discuss any two policy options to address the issue. For instance, to address the problem of the obesity epidemic in the US, the following measures have been used: soda tax/public awareness and education/ school lunches/ tax rebate for gym memberships etc. In this section, identify and assess any TWO alternatives to addressing the problem and identify which of the options is the best strategy based on any two policy analysis criteria. This assessment should be based on the evidence you obtained from the literature, not what you think.
3. Recommendation
Here you should provide your preferred policy recommendation based on available evidence. You should reiterate important points here and explain the reason for your recommendation.
This assessment should be no more than 5 pages, double spaced , excluding title page, executive summary and reference pages.
Please do just #2. The Analysis and the Policy Recommendation Alternatives Part and tie it with #1 since #1has already been done. Please aprovide a strong statistical evidence.
