8-1 Webster Hospital began a new employee orientation session with the president nine years ago. New employee orientation sessions with the president are held once a month and involve all shifts. Evaluations consistently cite these sessions as a positive attribute of orientation. Should Webster Hospital hold periodic orientation/feedback sessions with all employees? Recently one of the vice presidents suggested that the president make herself available for “employee questions and feedback in a town meeting format” at least once every six months. Other members of the senior management team recommend against such a program and suggest that feedback and questions be directed to supervisors. What do you recommend and why?
