***I would HIGHLY recommend not writing your essay on someone you know personally. Most students get caught up on writing a biography on people they know rather than focusing on the social structures and influences, which is the key purpose of this assignment***
Provide 1-2 paragraphs with a synopsis of who the individual is who you’ve chosen to write about. Highlight the key components of who they are as they relate to the social structures you will later outline.
Identify FOUR social structures that impacted/influenced who that individual is, and likely their outcome in life. Draw a correlation between each social structure you identified and how it was pertinent in shaping that individual in society.
For example, if one where to write an essay on ME (Prof Costello), one might report on the fact that I am a female and I work in a female dense profession (social work). Secondly, I am a wife and mother, also because I am female but also because this is a common expectation of women in our current society for my age group. Third, that I have continued education, likely because my parents also have continued education. I was also, likely, privileged to some opportunities due to being raised in a middle class white society that allowed me to afford to get that education.
