The Unfinished Nation Video series helps provide an understanding of the significant events from this era that helped shape America’s history. This series combines interviews with leading scholars and historians, archival footage, historical and contemporary photographs, locations of historic interest, historic artifacts, and manuscripts to bring American History to life. Now that you have watched all three documentaries, it is time for your assignment. Here is the scenario: A big-time film producer was so impressed by The Unfinished Nation videos “What Price Freedom'” “Tattered Remains,” and “The Unfinished Nation” that she has decided to make each of them into a full-length motion picture. This trilogy will be her masterpiece. But, the producer has to pitch the idea to the studio executives in order to get funding.
The producer reaches out to you to design a movie poster for each film so she can take it into the big meeting. She is letting you pick the actors, the title, the director, and has asked that you to add the appropriate images and information.
Steps:
Watch the 3 assigned documentaries and take notes.
Identify the movie title (this cannot be the same as the documentary title but should express the overall idea embodied in the documentary and the proposed feature film).
Identify the names of two main actors and/or actresses and who they play in the film (use real actors)
Identify the director (select a real director)
Through images, make sure to Identify the setting and the time period of the film.
Create one or two (maximum of two) sentence summaries for each poster that encapsulate the main idea of the film.
Provide a one or two (maximum of two)sentence film review from a movie critic.
