They ask you to summarize some parts of the book, explain key concepts, and connect these to your own experience. Prompts for each question provide a suggested length.

1. Identify two of the main arguments of this chapter and provide at least two examples Johnson gives for each of these. Finally, consider how this way of thinking could be applied to your own life with a focus on family, neighborhood, job, or school.
2. Summarize one of the following sections: “Human Ecology,” “Making a Living,” or “Birth, Death, Migration: Population and Social Life.” Identify one thing from this section that you find particularly surprising and explain how this contrasts with your previous thinking.
3. In the section “Population and the Big Picture,” how does Johnson discuss different ways we can understand the concept of “overpopulation.” Given these realities, how do you think we can best address this issue?
