What’s Happening in Science – Introduction

Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to assess your ability to:
Identify what is being claimed when presented with popular sources of information or science.
Relate science to everyday issues.
Overview
The following assignment instructions and guidelines will apply to
the presentations that will occur at each module’s class session. Your
instructor will post the schedule of presentations.
Action Items
Locate a recent news story or issue that relates to science.
Create a short (2- to 3-minute) presentation on your findings.
Should you need help locating articles/information to support your
presentation, please reach out to your professor. Support your
presentation with the following:
Graphics/visual aids – good pictures, tables, and/or graphs can really capture the attention of your audience
Reference slide with the source(s) of your information clearly identified.
Be prepared to give your presentation during your assigned class session.
On the Sunday before you present, submit your presentation, along with a 3-4 paragraph summary of your findings, for grading to What’s Happening in Science – Submission.
