This assignment requires students to write a short biographical essay [750-1000 words]. These sketches will be based on at least three peer-reviewed sources of information [not on some random website or blog – so not Wikipedia or History.com]
You will provide accurate footnotes when pulling information from these sources, as well as a ‘works cited’ page. Make sure to add the page number where you found the information on yout footnotes.
Your short sketch cannot cover all the information about one person’s life, so what should it include? You should include at least three parts:1) Briefly introduce the person- who, what, where, and when; 2) Important influences on American society, 1880-1948; 3) focus on important transnational connections to the United States, 1880-1948. Many of the people listed were immigrants, but your transnational connection should go beyond such small facts. Identify what made this person significant to the transnational community. Identify what transnational contribution your figure made to American History.
