This paper gives you an opportunity to explore and critically analyze your own personal values as they relate to the NASW Code of Ethics. This paper is to be a thoughtful and reflective self-analysis of your values and ethics, and possible areas where the Code of Ethics may differ from your own. Your paper will be evaluated on how well you address the following areas:
Identify your personal values. Choose 2 or 3 values that you practice, and feel are important to who you are both personally and professionally. Put a name to these values, for example: trustworthy, hardworking, etc. (These should not be the same as the Code of Ethics).
Describe where these values came from. These could be major influences such as events and/or people in your life that have helped to shape the personal values/ethics you see as most important to you as you pursue a career in social work.
Identify 2 or 3 concepts from the Code of Ethics that are similar to your identified personal values from above.
How are these concepts similar to your identified personal values?
Why is this concept and your value important for ethical social work practice?
Identify 1 or 2 concepts from the Code of Ethics that are different from your identified personal values from above.
How are these concepts different from your identified personal values?
How might you overcome the challenge of differences?
Describe a hypothetical client situation that you would find challenging as a practicing social worker and why it would be challenging based on your values.
Identify at least two concepts from the Code of Ethics you will emphasize in order to ethically address this
client situation.

Each student is responsible to ensure the correct version of their paper is correctly submitted to Canvas by 11:59PM. Technology problems will not be an acceptable cause for lateness, so be sure to leave adequate time to upload paper and verify it has uploaded correctly. No late papers will be accepted.
This paper will be graded on level of self-awareness, insight, thoroughness in answering above bullet points, organization and presentation (i.e. grammar, spelling, etc.). This paper will count for 15% of the final grade.
